Outfits of the Night from the Sports Personality of the Year Awards

The BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony was held on Sunday night in Birmingham. The nominees included captain of England's football world cup team Harry Kane and two-time Olympic skeleton gold medallist Lizzy Yarnold.

The winner, who was voted for by the public, was Geraint Thomas, the first Welsh winner of the Tour de France.

There were so many inspiring speeches from nominees and guests at the awards night that really showed how sport has changed peoples lives. The winner of the Unsung hero award, Kirsty Ewen works as a volunteer at a swimming club in Scotland. She overcame her own mental health issues through volunteering to help inspire other people.

Tyson Fury, the Heavyweight boxing champion said: "If I can speak about it - heavyweight champion, six foot nine, 18 stone tough guy - anybody can". Fury is sending out such an important message and it's so good to hear sportsmen and women talking about their own mental health as it is still a subject that people don't understand.
